Four women — one of them pregnant — were found in an abandoned house on the Eastern Main Road on Wednesday morning, believed to be victims of human trafficking. Police are now seeking persons of interest in connection with the discovery of the four women.
It was at about 9.30 am on Wednesday when police recieved a report from concerned citizens, of screams being heard in a house along the Eastern Main Road near Jubilee Street Tacarigua. Police officers of the Arouca Police Station investigated, and as they entered a dilapidated house they came across three foreign nationals, two Venezuelan and one Guyanese, as well as a Trinidad national. All were female, and they told police they were being held against their will.
The four women were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for medical treatment, and later discharged into the care of the police. Newsday understands that the women were physically unharmed.
Police are now searching for individuals connected to the discovery of the four women. Police noted their frustration at getting information from the Spanish- speaking victims, and added that they had to depend on a translator to get their statements.
It is not known whether the women were manipulated into coming along with their captors, or if they came to the place on their own and were held captive.
Police however said the house was used as a hideaway, mostly by persons who wanted to have sex.
While all four women are in police custody assisting with investigations, police suspect that the Guyanese national may have a connection with the persons who kidnapped the other women.

This is very horrific for any person to go through. Hope these women get counseling and they find a way to curb this.
