Suspected gang leader arrested in Central Trinidad

A man suspected by police to be a gang leader was found hiding out in a hotel where he had tried to escape detection.
Police officers went to the man’s home in Walter’s Lane, Enterprise, where they found members of his family along with an extended magazine with 23 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
Officers of the Central Division Task Force and members of the T&T regiment and air guard also searched an open area near the house where they found 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 14 rounds of 12 gauge ammunition, five .40 calibre ammunition, and one extended magazine.
According to police, the suspect was from the Unruly Gang of Enterprise and is known to bring in weapons to supply gang members. They believe these weapons were used in several of the murders in Enterprise.
It is thought the man heard of his impending arrest and tried to hide in a nearby hotel but he was soon discovered around 2:00 am this morning.
In a separate incident officers swooped down on the home of a 37-year-old businessmen in Lamont Street, Enterpriser, who is alleged to be a drug dealer, where they seized $95,320, 125 grammes of marijuana and 219 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The money was handed over to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) for further investigation while the suspect and four other family members, including two boys, ages 13 and 17, and a 67-year-old woman, were arrested
