Fraud Squad swoops down on St James Police Station

The St James police station was raided yesterday evening by officers of the Fraud Squad.
LoopTT was told that the Fraud Squad was called in after officers at the St James police station observed certain discrepancies with "overtime" forms.
Officers were allegedly claiming for hours performed from scheduled extra duties which were never completed.
This resulted in some officers receiving over $30,000 a month in overtime in some instances.This "racketeering" has allegedly been taking place for about four years.
Yesterday, a team of officers from the Fraud Squad swooped down at the St James police station and seized several hard drives, record books and overtime pay sheets which were kept at the station.
No one was held, but several senior officers are expected to be questioned as a result.
