Just over two weeks ago a group of students damaged a teacher's vehicle with a scratch bomb blowing away the rear windshield .In this latest report three students were hospitalised yesterday, after ingesting a muffin brought by one student, allegedly laced with marijuana.

POLICE EXERCISE NET $.4M IN COCAINE

Police exercises in the Western Division at the weekend led to the seizure of more than $400,00 in cocaine. The officers went to Union Road, Four Roads, where they conducted several Stop and Search exercises. While searching the forested areas along the roadway, police dogs from the Canine Unit began reacting in a manner indicating narcotics were in the vicinity.

A search was conducted and a short distance into a forested area, the officers found and seized 1.5566kg of cocaine and 225g of marijuana which were wrapped in plastic bags.

Police yesterday hailed the arrest of a 40-year-old well-known San Fernando drug dealer who according to reports was held during an anti-crime exercise in which police seized 35 kilograms of high grade marijuana with a street value of about $2 million.

The suspect with two known addresses — Turney Street, Mon Repos and Marabella was arrested along with a 32-year-old “PH” driver of St John’s Road, Oropouche, a pipefitter, 44, of Rig Road, Claxton Bay, and a 44-yearold female bartender of Moody Stewart Street, Mon Repos.

At about 11.30 am on Monday, police reported that in an exercise co-ordinated and supervised by Snr Supt Irwin Hackshaw and Insp Don Gajadhar and including Sgts Teeluck, Ramroop, Ramlogan, PCs Ali, Moses, Goddard, Rampersad, Gordon and WPC Valdez intercepted a black Nissan Almera car at Turney Street, Mon Repos. Police found hidden in the car 26 kilograms of high grade marijuana with a street value of $1.56 million. It is believed the suspect transported drugs for the drug dealer whose home was subsequently raided and a further nine kilograms of marijuana with a street value of $540,000 found.

Part of drug game new order’

THE DISCOVERIES of a decapitated body in Port-of-Spain and a body tied to an offshore platform are techniques used in the drug “game” and locally drug pushers have been eliminating each other in a move to seize power in a “new order”.

This was the view of local criminologist Darius Figuera in response to the discovery of the dismembered body of Nathan Maraj on Wednesday.

His head was found in a dumpster in Quarry Street and his body later in an abandoned BMW on Duncan Street. In the past five years there have been 11 decapitations, 18 from 1997 to present.

 

Figuera noted he was much more interested in the body found at the platform as this is a technique called “feeding the fishes”.

He explained they put weights on the body so it submerge to allow the fishes to feed and the goal is to have the fishes feed on the face.

“It sends a message and it is usually done by traffickers as a message of what will be done to informers,” he noted.

He said the feeding the fishes technique is done by Columbians, Mexicans and also the American mafia. He pointed out that since the body was attached to the platform the perpetrators wanted it to be found.

 

He believes that it is tied into what has been going on in the drug game.

 

2 men fined $10,000 each after Biche drug bust

 

Two men were fined $10,000 each after pleading guilty to charges of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Rasindranath Seenath and Shaheed Shafee were caught by police on Sunday during a road exercise along the Cunapo Southern Road, Canque Village, Biche.
Seenath, 44, and Shafee, 41, were found in possession of 1.2 kilogrammes of marijuana which they transported  in a red and silver Mistubishi pick-up truck.
Rio Claro magistrate Rae Roopchand scolded the men, saying that the selling of drugs is not the solution to getting money and urged them to set a better example for young people.
Seenath, a mason of Teak Avenue, Baker Trace, Sangre Grande and and Shafee, a construction worker of LP #92 Coalmine, Sangre Grande, both pleaded guilty and were fined $10,000 each in default of serving two years’ hard labour in prison.
Cpl Marlon Joseph of the Inter Agency Task Force, WPC Toussaint, PC Sookwah, PC Rishi Manna, PC Raymond Mendoza and PC Colin Tom carried out the road exercise which led to the arrests. 

 

Charge those involved in marijuana cover-up

An online petition has been started for the police to arrest and charge former government ministers and a former senior police officer were allegedly involved in a cover-up after a small quantity of marijuana was found at the private home of former prime minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
During the general election campaign, then political leader of the Independent Liberal Party, Jack Warner, claimed a quantity of marijuana was found at Persad-Bissessar’s Philippine residence in April 2013. Warner said that he, with the assistance of two other ministers and a former senior police officer had covered up the crime.
Nazma Muller, leader of the Caribbean Collective for Justice and lobbyist for marijuana legalisation, is now calling on the acting Commissioner of Police, Stephen Williams, to arrest all those implicated in the matter.
Muller said while she does not think anyone should be arrested for possession of marijuana, she has become frustrated with “poor people” being arrested for possession of marijuana and people who have power not being convicted. She said the catalyst for the petition was an incident where one of her friends was arrested for possessing a small quantity of marijuana recently.
“Three quarters of all cases in the court are for marijuana possession. My point is the law is only being applied to poor people who have no power,” Muller said.
When asked why, as a marijuana activist, she wants people to be prosecuted for a marijuana-related offence, she said: “Personally I don’t care if anyone is smoking weed. I think anyone should have the right to do so without being incarcerated. If you are going to prosecute me or you, then I want the ones with power to also be prosecuted.”
